Welcome to Chip Friend Version 1.0, a resource for Friend Chip® enthusiast. (NOW UNDER CONSTRUCTION)

The Friend Chip® machines utilized early Microcomputertechnik for musical purposes, and where designed by Dipl. Ing.  H. G.  Zemper  and Ton-Ing.  J.O.  Bergler  in  the late 1970 - 80  ies.  Today the company still makes fine machines, but mainly  for AES/EBU distribution.

The above picture is of me working with a MR.LAB® in the summer 2007.

This Website is soon to be a fully functional USER- RESOURCE

and it´s purpose is for You who own, or have had any experience with the equipment from Friend Chip® Berlin to use it and to contribute.

I am a sound technician, an electronic service technician with a speciality in Synthesizers, and I am a proud owner of a “MR. LAB Microcomputer organized keyboard with memory”, it is a simple yet clever sequensing

device made for live repetetive controlled steps & structures like melodies.

It´s fully functional, with  an upgraded digital Tempo/Hold time feature

from the manufacturer.

So far, I know of 3 different MR.LAB machines in Europe including mine.

I am working from now on actively to get in touch with ALL of you owners or enthusiasts. I want to identify and help in keeping the other few

OLD Friend Chip© musical tools (e.g. MR.LAB, RYTHM LAB, “Synthi” TONGENERATOR etc.) alive  as well.

Please don´t hesitate to contact me if you have any information, pictures or

need to discuss some information or want technical advices.
